Description

I'm no teacher and I still have a lot to learn, but I thought it'd be fun to share my process and the main steps I take.

1. My sloppy time. I draw the outline, not putting in much effort and with no grace. I also place where shading is going to be, but more times than not, a lot of the shading gets erased.
2. This is when I blend everything, watching my movements more than the first step but not as much as I do in my further steps. I don't worry too much about the highlights at this moment, but I do try to get the placements of depth done.
3. Now is the time I focus on depth and darkness. Not really much to say about it except that it varies that I'll be doing shading and highlighting at the same time, going back in forth with the two. But for the sake of this, I just focused on depth and shading.
4. Highlighting and minor detailing. Highlighting can be a pain, but it's one of my favorite parts of the process. The difficulty I run into is sometimes highlighting too much and making too much of a contrast with the light and dark. However, it's easily fixable.
5. The last step! Now this is my favorite part of it all. This is when I darken the places that need to be black that might have faded throughout the duration of drawing the whole picture. I add in the lashes, freckles in the iris, more detail to the eyebrows, and the reflecting highlights on the eye in which I use basic white acrylic paint and a thin brush (sometimes a dotting tool). Sign it and you're done!

Again, I'm no expert and I would never claim to be! I hope this helped some. If you have any advice or suggestions, please feel free to send them my way! Thanks. (:
